Hyundai has announced that it has sold over 5 lakh units of the Creta worldwide since its launch in 2015. This number includes only the units made in India. Production takes place in Brazil and Russia as well, and even China if the original ‘ix25’ is included.
Hyundai launched the Creta in India as its first B-SUV in the country in July 2015. Exports commenced a few months later. In May last year, the company gave it a mid-life facelift. By now, the company has sold over 3,70,000 units in the domestic market and over 1,40,000 units in export markets.
“With the record sales of over 5 lakh units in less than 4 years by any Made-In-India SUV, Hyundai CRETA has yet again set a new benchmark in the industry becoming a shining example of Hyundai’s manufacturing excellence,” Vikas Jain, National Sales Head, Hyundai Motor India, commented on the achievement.
The Hyundai Creta is available with three engine options, of the which the bigger capacity units are the most powerful in their segment. The entry-level option is the 123 PS 1.6-litre Dual VTVT petrol unit. Above that, there’s the 90 1.4-litre U2 CRDi diesel unit. The top-of-the-line option is the 128 PS 1.6L U2 VGT CRDi diesel unit.
6-speed manual and 6-speed automatic are the transmission choices, with the latter reserved to the 1.6-litre engines. An AWD system isn’t available in India. So, power goes to only the front wheels.
Projector headlamps, 17-inch diamond-cut alloy wheels, LED tail lights, smart key band, electric sunroof, cruise control, ventilated front seats with 6-way power adjustment for the driver seat, wireless phone charger, 7-inch touchscreen infotainment system, six airbags, ESC, VSM and HAC are some of the main features of the Hyundai Creta. Prices range from INR 9,60,154-15,63,873 (ex-showroom Delhi).
