Last year, Hyundai confirmed that it is planning a new A-segment SUV. Eui-sun Chung, Vice Chairman, Hyundai, said that the company plans to develop an A-segment SUV by 2020. No details about it are known as of now. The third-gen Hyundai i10 is expected to arrive somewhere around the end of the decade. A possibility is that both these A-segment models would ride on the same platform and have a considerable amount of commonalities.
A new Hyundai SUV known for sure to arrive in India is the Hyundai Carlino concept’s production version. Codenamed ‘Hyundai QXi’, this SUV will fall in the B-segment and have a sub-4 metre body. It will compete with the Ford EcoSport, Maruti Vitara Brezza, Honda WR-V and the Tata Nexon. According to the report, the Hyundai QXi will arrive in 2019. This year, Hyundai will launch the facelifted Hyundai Creta in India.
Hyundai is not the only automaker planning an A-segment SUV. Volkswagen also plans to launch an A-segment SUV, in 2020. The company will name it ‘VW T-Track’. Maruti Suzuki is also considering an A-segment SUV to challenge the Renault Kwid.
