Days after its start of production, the Honda Mobilio was caught running on Indonesian streets yesterday. Our friend Iswahyudi at Autonetmagz reports that the Mobilo shown here was being driven to a dealer for demo purpose.
Autonetmagz further adds that HPM (Honda Prospect Motor), the Indonesian subsidiary of Honda, will hold a ceremony today to commence the deliveries of the MPV.
As Indian Autos Blog reported, pre-bookings for the Mobilio commenced on the day of its world premiere at the Indonesian International Motor Show in September last year, and until November 2013, over 5,000 pre-bookings were registered by the company. Today, HPM will hand over the Mobilio to 160 customers.
For Indonesia, all variants of the Mobilio are powered by the 1.5-liter four-cylinder i-VTEC engine (the Honda City's engine) which produces 118 PS and 144 Nm of torque, and transmission options include a 5-speed manual gearbox or a CVT automatic unit.
When the Mobilio is launched in India next fiscal, a diesel engine will also be offered given our country's preference for the cheaper fuel. The diesel motor would be the 1.5-liter i-DTEC unit which powers the Amaze and the new City.
The Mobilio will have its Indian premiere at the Auto Expo next month. The MPV will be manufactured at Honda India's second facility in Tapukara, Rajasthan.
