The Honda City has continued its immense performance in India through the years. Last year, when it completed 2 decades of sales in the country, it was the highest selling mid-size sedan.
During the calendar year 2017, Honda sold 62,573 units of the Honda City in India, making it the country’s best-selling C-segment sedan. In comparison, the Maruti Ciaz’s sales were 47,114 units during the same period. It looks like the tables have turned. In 2016, while the Honda City clocked 57,619 in annual sales, the Maruti Ciaz was the class-leading model with 63,187 units registered in cumulative sales.
During the year, the Honda City’s sales have grown by 9.66% (5,568 units). One reason behind the growth in sales is mid-cycle refresh introduced in February last year which has made the car more desirable. Honda sold 1,78,755 vehicles in India last year, 15% higher than in 2016 (1,56,107 units). 35% of the total sales were of the Honda City.
The Honda City is available in S, SV, V, VX and ZX grades.
