Honda CBR250RR could get throttle-by-wire and LED headlamp - Report

To compete with the Yamaha R25.

Indonesian media reports including one on IwanBanaran suggest that the Honda CBR250RR could get features such as throttle-by-wire and LED headlamps that are not typical of its segment. The model is considered as Honda's answer to the Yamaha R25 and the aforementioned features are not offered on the latter.

The 2016 KTM RC390 will be the only other motorcycle close to the CBR250RR's segment that will be equipped with a ride-by-wire system.

The CBR250RR's competitors further include the Kawasaki Ninja 300 and the KTM RC390, among others, and both of them do not have the said features, yet. The 2016 KTM RC390 that was unveiled at the EICMA 2015 is equipped with a ride-by-wire system.

Previewed by the Honda Lightweight Supersports Concept at the 2015 Tokyo Motor Show, the Honda CBR250RR will adopt a sharp and agile design to refresh the brand's image in the segment. It is expected to be powered by an inline twin-cylinder 250 cc engine with DOHC and four valves that could produce around 40 PS of maximum power. The transmission system is likely to be a six-speed unit.

Other features expected on the CBR250RR include a fully-digital instrument console, clip-on handlebars, an inverted fork, a monoshock, a single-disc brake upfront and a smaller disc brake at the rear (both governed by ABS), a sizeable, side-mounted exhaust can, and an LED taillamp.

The model is expected to be launched first in Indonesia in the first half of 2016.
