Honda Cars India Limited registers 9% growth in 2017

Honda Cars India Limited has revealed its annual sales figure for 2017. The company sold 1,79,451 units in the country last year. The two highest selling models for HCIL were the Honda City and Honda WR-V.

In 2016, the company had sold 1,65,337 units in the country, which means that the annual (retail) sales grew by 9% last year. The Japanese automaker says that along with the bestseller Honda City, the Honda WR-V also contributed to the increase. The crossover was the company’s second-best-selling model in India last year.

This year, Honda’s first launches were the Honda City 20th Anniversary Edition, Honda Amaze Pride Edition and the Honda WR-V Edge Edition. At Auto Expo 2018, reports say that the company will unveil the next-gen 2018 Honda Amaze. In that case, an all-new Honda Brio should follow later this year. The fifth-gen Honda CR-V will also go on sale later this year, following its local debut at Auto Expo 2018 next month.

Honda sold 7,93,636 units in the Asia & Oceania region last year, 12% more than in 2016 (7,07,951). While the Honda City was the best-selling model accounting for 1,69,124 units of them, the Honda Civic (sedan/hatchback/Type R) saw the biggest growth of 51%, selling 89,850 units in all.
