The sedan brother of the Brio will launch in the month of April and it is the first diesel Honda to set foot in India. Honda is betting big on this sub-4 metre diesel sedan to conquer the market share it lost in the last few years to Hyundai and Maruti Suzuki.

Mr. Jnaneswar Sen, senior vice-president for marketing and sales at Honda Cars India stated to Financial Chronicle that, "A new diesel engine will be introduced in the new model Honda Amaze to be launched in April 2013."

Meanwhile, Honda Cars India entered 2013 on a positive note as Honda City's sales has increased to make it the second best selling sedan in its segment after the Hyundai Verna. It is commendable considering the fact that its main rivals, the VW Vento, Skoda Rapid and the Nissan Sunny are available with both petrol and diesel engines.

Honda has reportedly started mailers alerting customers on the imminent arrival.

The Honda Amaze is powered by the newly developed 1.5-litre i-DTEC Earth Dreams diesel engine. Honda has not released the specifications of the engine yet, but it is expected to be better than its prime competitor, the Maruti Swift Dzire.
