The Honda Amaze was developed at Honda's R&D center in Bangkok and India is first to receive the 1.5L i-DTEC engine, through the launch. This is claimed to be Honda's most strategic model yet, and is developed with strong focus on requirements of Indian customers. Over the next few years, Honda hopes to increase its operating universe to around 50%.

The 1.2L i-VTEC petrol engine meanwhile produces 88PS @ 6,000 RPM and 109Nm @ 4,500 RPM. Fuel efficiency for the 5-speed petrol MT is 18 kmpl while the 5-speed petrol AT variant returns 15.5 kmpl. The AT is not available with the diesel engine.
The Amaze is marketed as a 'Smart Micro Limousine' and follows Honda's 'man maximum machine minimum' philosophy.
Boot space capacity is 400L and safety features include dual front airbags, anti-lock brakes, electronic brakeforce distribution and a front body structure designed to reduce pedestrian injury in case of collision. The turning radius for the petrol variants is 4.5m while its 4.7m for the diesel variants.
The Amaze is 3,990mm long, 1680mm wide, 1,505 mm tall and bears a wheelbase length of 2,405 mm, 60mm longer than the Brio's. The front suspension is a MacPherson strut and the rear is a H-Shaped torsion beam. The steering system is an electrically assisted unit. Other features include power folding outside mirrors and an Eco Lamp that promotes fuel efficient driving.
The standard warranty 2 years/40k kilometers (whichever comes first). An additional warranty of 2 years/40k kilometers has been priced at 9,996 rupees for the petrol variants and 15,375 rupees for the diesel variants.
