The Honda Activa has become the number one selling two-wheeler in India for the month of March 2014, with sales standing at 179,956 units.
This is the second time, a press release from the company says, that the Activa has managed to outscore all of its rivals to top the charts in the fiscal year of 2013-14. The number for March represents a 65 percent growth over the 108,815 units it had sold in March 2013. The press release also says that the Activa has a lead of around 13,000 units to its nearest rival.
The 110 cc Activa was first launched back in 2001-02 and so far, 10 million units of the scooter have been sold.
The Activa competes in a heavily contested 110 cc segment where competition includes Honda Dio, Yamaha Ray, TVS Jupiter, TVS Wego, Yamaha Alpha and the soon to launch Suzuki Let's. It has, however, remained above the competition.
Honda will officially launch the Honda Activa 125 on the 28th of April (Monday) that was showcased at the Auto Expo 2014. Ex-showroom Delhi prices for the scooter have been disclosed, with the Honda Activa 125 Standard trim set at Rs 52,447 and the Deluxe trim at Rs 58,156. The Standard variant of the scooter will come with drum brakes and pressed steel wheels, while the Deluxe will see the inclusion of a disc brake at the front and alloy wheels.
