Hero Motocorp, the world's largest two wheeler maker (in terms of volume) has set foot in Central America.
The Indian company has launched the brand in Guatemala City, El Salvador and Honduras. The Hero branded motorcycle range which includes the Hunk, Karizma, Glamour, HF Dawn, Splendor NXG, Super Splendor and the Achiever will be sold in these new markets.
Hero Motocorp has appointed Guatemala based Indy Motos Group as the local partner to distribute the motorcycles in these three countries. Mr. Pawan Munjal, Managing Director & CEO, Hero MotoCorp Ltd and Mr. Danello Siekavizza, Director, Indy Motos launched the Hero brand in Central America.
Mr. Munjal said, "This launch is a significant milestone for us considering this is the first of the new international markets where we are starting our operations. It is indicative of the significant role that markets in Central America and Latin America will play in our global expansion plans."
As a part of a brand building exercise, the company has launched the Spanish version of the Hero Anthem, "Hum Main Hai Hero". Hero will further add new markets in Central and Latin America along with Africa in the future. The two wheeler maker is aiming to source 10% of its total sales volume from export markets in four to five years.
Hero has been enjoying an indomitable supremacy in the Indian market but Honda is catching up at an impressive pace. Hero's global expansion would help it to extend its lead in the two wheeler market.
