Changan Ford will officially list the Ford EcoSport facelift on the Chinese market on September 8. The information comes courtesy Sina car news. The updated model was showcased to the Chinese audience for the first time in April.
Physically, the Ford EcoSport facelift for China is the same as the one sold in Brazil. Unlike the US-bound version showcased at the LA Auto Show in November last year, the China-spec model retains the tailgate mounted spare. Images accompanying the report highlight exterior differences between the entry level, mid level and top level trims of the Ford EcoSport facelift.
The entry grade is devoid of chrome and features black finish for the grille, bumper, ORVM casings, and door handles. The mid-level variant gains alloy wheels, and silver finish front grille louvres along with body colour door handles and ORVMs. In its top end form, the compact SUV features projector headlamps, silver finish on the front and rear bumper, chrome grille, body colour fog lamp enclosures and silver finish roof rails.
Ford will offer the EcoSport with a total three petrol engine options - 1.5 L NA, 1.0 L Turbocharged, and 2.0 L NA. Power and torque outputs of the 1.5 L petrol stand at 120 hp and 150 Nm respectively. The three cylinder 1.0 EcoBoost motor produces 125 hp and 170 Nm while the new 2.0 L petrol churns out 170 hp and 202 Nm. Transmission options include 5-speed manual and 6-speed automatic gearboxes. Changan Ford will also offer the compact SUV with four wheel drive along with a multi-link independent rear suspension.
The Ford EcoSport 2017 India launch will take place this festive season as per several reports. It will be armed with a new 1.5 L three cylinder petrol engine and additional features like an 8-inch touchscreen interface for Ford's SYNC3.
