Ford will launch the new EcoSport in late September or early October reports Money Control. Deliveries of the Ford EcoSport facelift will commence November onwards, and the report adds that it will cost around INR 1 lakh more than the current car.
The report reiterates the introduction of the new three-cylinder 1.5 L Dragon petrol engine with around 120 PS on tap. It will be lighter than the current four-cylinder 1.5 petrol unit thanks to its aluminium construction. A previous media report claims the new engine will come with manual and automatic transmission options. Partnering the new petrol engine will be the familiar 1.5 L TDCi diesel unit.
The Ford EcoSport facelift gets a new front fascia with redesigned front bumper, a new single piece grille, and new headlamps. Other exterior updates include a new set of alloys and revised colour palette. Recently, the interior of a test mule of the new model EcoSport was captured in images confirming the presence of an 8-inch floating touchscreen unit. It will feature the Ford SYNC 3 infotainment system that supports Apple CarPlay, Android Auto and a host of compatible apps downloadable via the user's smartphone.
Ford is tight-lipped about the launch of the EcoSport facelift in India. Currently, the compact SUV retails for INR 7.17 to 10.78 lakhs ex-showroom Delhi. A price hike of around a lakh will push it dangerously close to bigger SUVs like the Hyundai Creta and Renault Duster.
