Kia has already commenced the series production of the upcoming Seltos at its new facility in Anantapur, Andhra Pradesh. Below is the video of the first made-in-India unit of the Seltos. The new premium B-SUV is slated to be launched on 22 August.
Kia's Anantapur production facility has a total capacity of 3,00,000 units per annum and Kia plans to reach 1,00,000 production units soon with the launch of another product within six months from now. Also, recently it was reported that Hyundai is contemplating on sharing this facility to produce 1,00,000 units for itself by 2022/23.
The Kia Seltos has gathered 23,000+ pre-bookings in the just over 20 days which is quite an achievement for a vehicle of its class. There were 6,000+ pre-orders right on the first day. The new premium B-SUV is yet to be launched but is already giving nightmares to its competitors.
Kia dealerships around India have started offering test drives to the potential customers who wish to explore what Kia's maiden SUV has on offer prior to launch. The Kia Seltos comes in two styles - Tech Line and GT Line. E, K, K+, X and X+ are the equipment lines.
Kia offers the Seltos in the following mechanical configurations:
- 1.5L naturally aspirated petrol engine, 6-speed MT, FWD, 16.4 km/l
- 1.5L naturally aspirated petrol engine, CVT, FWD, 16.3 km/l
- 1.5L turbocharged diesel engine, 6-speed MT, FWD, 20.8 km/l
- 1.5L turbocharged diesel engine, 6-speed AT, FWD, 17.8 km/l
- 1.4L turbocharged petrol engine, 6-speed MT, FWD, 16.1 km/l
- 1.4L turbocharged petrol engine, 7-speed DCT, FWD, 16.2 km/l
Talking about its exterior highlights, the Kia Seltos features Crown Jewel LED headlamps with Heartbeat DRLs, ice-cube LED front fog lamps, 17-inch alloy wheels, red brake callipers and LED tail lamps. On the inside, the Kia Seltos is brimming with comfort and entertainment features and some of which are electric sunroof, 2-step reclining rear seats, ventilated front seats, power-adjustable driver seat, 10.25-inch HD touchscreen infotainment system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connectivity, embedded navigation, UVO connected vehicle technologies, 7-inch driver information display and 8-inch head-up display.
Kia is expected to price the entry-level Seltos at around INR 11 lakh (ex-showroom). Deliveries of the same should commence soon after the launch.
