The Fiat Punto Evo (Punto facelift) is scheduled to be launched in August and factory-fresh cars have already started reaching dealer stockyards across the country. Here are the latest spyshots of the refreshed hatchback from Autoz.
The aging model has been given a comprehensive cosmetic makeover inside out while the undercarriage has been retained, along with the existing powertrain options. The petrol options include a 1.2-litre unit that produces 66.6 bhp (68 PS) and a 1.4-litre motor that puts out 88.2 bhp (90PS). The 1.3-litre diesel motor is available in two specifications - 74.48 bhp (76 PS) and 91.1 bhp (93 PS).
Outside, the headlamps, grille, bumpers, alloy wheels and ORVM with integrated blinkers and taillight detailing are new while on the inside, the car derives its dashboard from the new Linea. A rear AC vent is arguably the most significant interior update.
With only 4,691 units sold in the first half of 2014 at a monthly average of 782 units, sales of the current Fiat Punto is plummeting every passing month. The refreshed hatchback shoulders the responsibility of stepping up the game for Fiat.
In the past year and a half, Fiat has been establishing exclusive dealership outlets across India, and the current number stands at 116. With a wider sales and service network and new products like the Punto Evo and the Avventura crossover, the company is hoping to gain the much needed momentum.
