Will be exported as SKDs (Semi-knocked down Kits)
In an interview with ET Auto, Sumit Sawhney, MD & CEO of Renault India has confirmed that the company will begin exporting the Renault Kwid to Brazil from March 2016. He said that the Kwid will be shipped in the form of parts to the Latin American nation.
This falls inline with Carlos Ghosn's statement of making India the production hub of the Renault Kwid, given that the company has managed to almost fully localize (98%) the production of the A-segment crossover. The Kwid will be exported to Brazil as SKDs (Semi-knocked down Kits), where it will be assembled at their complex in Resende, Brazil.
For the Brazilian market, ABS should be offered as standard to meet the minimum safety specifications. The car will be launched with a 1.0-litre three-cylinder engine capable of running on petrol and ethanol. A 5-speed manual transmission will be standard, while an Easy-R automated manual transmission may be offered in higher grades.

The South American-spec Renault Kwid will feature minimal changes to the model sold in India, as seen in patent images. It gets body coloured door handles, larger ORVMs, and lighter body cladding, while the ground clearance appears a little lower.
