Honda's second joint venture will sell the re-skinned version of the new City.
According to Chinese reports, Dongfeng-Honda is expected to launch their version of the mid-size Honda City sedan in September, starting from CNY 80,000 to CNY 100,000 (INR 8.17 lakh to INR 10.22 lakh). It will be sold alongside the familiar Honda City manufactured by the Guangzhou-Honda joint venture.
Reportedly called the Honda Griez, spyshots have earlier revealed that the Chinese cousin will feature a design remarkably different from the global City. It gets a larger and wider grille, new bumper at both ends and new headlight clusters. The door skins feature an extra crease, and the rear benefits from large C-shaped light clusters and a redesigned bootlid.
The Honda Griez will source power from the well-known 1.5-liter i-VTEC petrol motor generating about 130 hp through either a 6-speed manual or CVT.

This is not the first time that the Chinese market is getting two examples of the same Honda product. Dongfeng and Guangzhou are selling two versions of the Vezel crossover, where the former sells a visually modified version of the compact crossover under the name Honda XR-V (like the Griez), while the latter sells the global specification model.
