The time for hot compact premium SUVs is now. At least Mercedes-AMG think so.
At the LA Auto Show today, the company showcased the Concept GLA 45 AMG that churns out 360bhp from a turbocharged 2.0 liter four-cylinder engine.
Acceleration from 0-100kmph takes just under five seconds, according to Mercedes-AMG. A performance oriented AMG 4MATIC all-wheel drive system is mated to a AMG SPEEDSHIFT DCT 7-speed sports transmission that transfers the power to the road.
AMG forged wheels in a cross-spoke design with 255/35 R21 tires provide the necessary grip. A spattering of “45” and AMG badges add to the sporty look.
Tobias Moers, Chairman of the Board of management of Mercedes-AMG GmBH said, “With the concept GLA 45 AMG, we are setting a stake firmly in the ground of the strongly growing market segment of compact SUVs. Our customers - a young target group who set great stake store by styling, dynamism and independence - can now start looking forward to a dynamic high-performance car.”
