Drifting away from passengers cars and personal utility vehicles for a change, we are covering the Bus and Utility Expo 2013 held at the India Expo Mart, Greater Noida. This is the same venue which will host the 2014 India Auto Expo and the B & U Expo also served as a soft run for the same.
We will take you through a tour of the expo and the future products presented by the exhibitors. For obvious reasons, we won't show you products you are already familiar with.
First up was Mahindra with the existing line-up of their light commercial vehicles. The star feature of the booth was the facelift of the Tourister bus. There are no serious additions to write home about, just a nip and tuck such as new headlights and different upholstery.
Next up was the Ashok Leyland stall with two variants of the Jan (as in Janta) Bus, i.e. the 12 meter (left) and the 8 meter (right) buses.
Ashok Leyland has patented the “Entry+1” feature which promises easy ingress and egress. The buses also feature technologies like interior and reverse cameras, wireless connectivity to the bus depot, automatic ticket collection and GPS assisted route. These buses were presented in BS-III, BS-IV Diesel and BS-IV CNG.
Tata showcased an Ambulance van application on the Venture platform, which will be available in showrooms in a couple of months. The buses showcased had LED technology, which are more efficient as compared to halogen bulbs.
Don't forget to scroll through the slideshow below to see all other exhibits from the inaugural B & U Expo which we hope will have more premieres in the next edition.
