BMW India will launch the 3rd-generation BMW X5 on May 29. We had earlier reported that the X5 is to be launched in the market in June and in connection to this, the company's India website does not list the X5 as an option.
The new X5 will be powered by the same 3.0-liter diesel engine, currently powering the 530d, producing 258 hp at 4,000 rpm and producing peak torque of 560 Nm between 1,500 and 3,000 rpm. The engine will come mated to an 8-speed automatic gearbox.
The 2014 X5 made its India debut at the Auto Expo 2014. This SUV gets BMW's xDrive system as standard.
While the older X5 was a CBU unit in India, the upcoming SUV will be a CKD unit from the start. BMW had confirmed this during the unveiling at the Auto Expo 2014. As for the manufacturing of the SUV, BMW produces the X5 in its fullest only at its Spartanburg facility in USA.
