The BMW 1 Series is the third Bavarian car to be launched in India for the year 2013. This was announced by Mr. Phillip von Sahr, president, BMW India last year. He said that the hatchback (which happens to be the smallest and least expensive BMW on sale worldwide) would enter India towards the end of the year and that it would be locally assembled at BMW's Chennai plant.

BMW 1 Series India marketing campaign

Today, we see that BMW India has started the marketing initiatives for the 1 Series. Apart from having a print ad in the Times Of India, the official 1 Series website is also live. The message is pretty simple: The 1 Series is 'Coming Soon'.

To get the fans enthused about the 1 Series, BMW has a contest up and running. It's pretty simple. You answer a few questions first (which, frankly speaking even your dog can manage correctly), before June 30, 2013. Then, BMW will pick 10 'lucky' people who get to go on an all-expenses paid trip (3 nights/4 days) to Germany. There they get to drive the 1 Series along with BMW India's brand ambassador, master blaster, Sachin Tendulkar and Indian FIA GT driver, Armaan Ebrahim.

The Mercedes A Class just witnessed 400 strong bookings and BMW India would like to spoil Merc's party ASAP. The 1 Series will go head-on with the baby Benz, though being a locally assembled car, the Bimmer could enjoy a price advantage.
