Bajaj was caught testing what seems to be a sportier version of the Pulsar 200 NS in Ooty. It has been long rumoured that Bajaj was developing a sportier version of the 200 NS.
The 200 NS competes with the likes of the Hero Karizma ZMR, Yamaha R15 and the Honda CBR150R. However, it doesn't quite have the sporty flair of its competition thanks to the lack of a full front fairing. The test mule spotted here quells that concern with its extremely aggressive front fairing.
While the 200 NS is powered by 200 cc single-cylinder engine that develops 23.5 bhp and is mated to a six-speed gearbox, the 200 SS might get a retuned version of the same engine due to the added weight of the fairing.
The spotted test mule seems to retain the same rear as the 200 NS, taking a high rake at the rear and split mud guards over the tyres. The rear brake lights look like they salute the KTM style of brake lights rather than the 200 NS'. Just like the 200 NS, the test mule gets clip on handlebars. By the looks of it, there is also a new split headlight unit unlike the unit in the 200 NS. The test mule also sports rear tyres that are similar to the NS.
It's likely that Bajaj will display the 200 SS at the upcoming 2014 Auto Expo.
