The Bajaj Pulsar 200 SS is right around the corner. The bike is not only big news for Bajaj Auto, since its their first fully-faired motorcycle, but also a significant development for Indian automobile enthusiasts who are fan followers of the Pulsar lineage.
Here are five things that we know about the Bajaj Pulsar 200 SS until now.
As we have by now derived from the numerous test mule sightings and showcases in other countries like Turkey, the Pulsar 200 SS would be available in four colour choices: Black, Yellow, Red and Blue. Out of the four, the Yellow, Red and Blue colour options would feature a dual tone paint scheme with white as the base colour. On the other hand, the black bike will come with with just the logos and stickers.
The Pulsar 200 SS is likely to be launched in two variants. The base variant would be a non-ABS version that would be cheaper than the ABS equipped version. Also, to keep the costs low, Bajaj would install a single-channel ABS system made by Bosch, say reports.
We are led to believe that the Pulsar 200 SS would feature the same engine as its naked twin, the Pulsar 200 NS. The engine is a 199.5 cc single-cylinder that would reportedly produce about 24.5 bhp of power, that is slightly higher than the power produced by the Pulsar 200 NS. The engine would be mated to a six-speed gearbox and while there are no major alteration in the engine components, the increase in power would be achieved with slight tweaking to the ECU.
Judging by the spyshots, the Pulsar 200 SS’ new features would include a dual projector headlamps with DRL LEDs on top. The rear would receive a full set of LED taillights while the turn signal indicators would be LED as well. The instrument cluster would be almost the same as the Pulsar 200 NS, but might have additional features.
The Pulsar 200 SS would be priced bang in the middle of its naked counter part, the Pulsar 200 NS and KTM’s similar-engined RC 200. For the non-ABS version, the prices are expected to be in the range of Rs 1.25 lakh while the ABS version would be priced at a slight premium, costing around Rs 1.35 lakh (Ex-Showroom pricing).
