Our stand-in Mumbai representative Shoeb who is at the launch of the new Audi A4 has conveyed to us that the car has been launched between 27.33-38 lakh rupees (ex-showroom, Maharashtra), about 60k rupees lower than the previous model.
The 1.8 litre TFSI costs Rs 27.33 lakh. Two diesel options are available, the 2.0 litre TDI that sets customers back by Rs 29.38 lakhs and the 3.0 litre TDI that tops the range at Rs 38 lakhs - all ex-showroom Maharashtra.
The new A4 is not an all-new model like the upcoming BMW 3 Series (BMW F30) and is mostly a cosmetic makeover. Audi claims a 10% improvement in fuel efficiency mainly due to the new steering system that disconnects from the engine in the straight-ahead position.
Audi India is not stating that it is advancing the launch of the new A4 due to the incoming 3 Series. It has mentioned that the A4 has outsold the 3 Series and C-Class in the first quarter of 2012.
Hang in there as we unearth more details on the new A4 for the Indian market.
