Earlier this week, the next-gen Skoda Rapid for international markets was officially confirmed to be revealed later this year. Using information revealed by leaked images and a teaser image, IAB's digital artist Shoeb Kalania has created a rendering to preview its exterior design in the clearest form yet.
The next-gen Skoda Rapid's exterior is reminiscent of the Euro-spec Skoda Scala which sits on the MQB A0 platform. In comparison to the previous-gen model, it is much sharper. As opposed to oddly shaped, halogen headlamps of the outgoing car, the all-new Rapid is expected with three-part angular headlamps that will be LED units. Also, the new signature grille looks more upmarket and elevates its sharper and more premium look. The front bumper now houses sleeker fog lights, but they may or may not be LED units. The high positioning and smaller footprint of the fog lights have allowed for a wider lower grille which extends across the width of the front fascia. The overall profile of the latest Skoda Rapid isn't all that different. Its flattish roofline and bow-shaped greenhouse gives it a traditional sedan look.
Depending on the market, the 2020 Skoda Rapid will likely be offered with 1.0L TSI turbocharged petrol and 1.5L TSI turbocharged petrol and 1.6L TDI turbocharged diesel engine options. The Indian-spec model will most probably make use of the 1.0 TSI turbocharged petrol engine which delivers 115 PS and 250 Nm of torque.
