2019 Yamaha V-Ixion and V-Ixion R launched in Indonesia

Yamaha Indonesia has updated the ageing Yamaha V-Ixion and Yamaha V-Ixion R with new styling. The entry trim 2019 Yamaha V-Ixion carries an unchanged sticker price of IDR 26.95 million (INR 1.35 lakh), while the 2019 V-Ixion R is priced at IDR 30.55 million (INR 1.53 lakh). The Japanese manufacturer has also introduced the new 2019 Yamaha V-Ixion Monster Energy Yamaha MotoGP edition at IDR 27.65 million (INR 1.38 lakh).

The 2019 Yamaha V-Ixion is offered in Matte Black, Metallic Blue and Metallic Red colours. The tank extensions of the new model have updated, sharper decals. When specified in the Matte Black colour, the motorcycle comes with golden coloured alloy wheels. The suspension system includes conventional telescopic fork up front and a monoshock in the rear. Also, the frame is the deltabox unit from the R15 v2.0, while the swingarm is a relatively accessible box-type unit.

Powering the V-Ixion is the same 149.8 cc single-cylinder, liquid-cooled, fuel-injected, 4-valve mill which is Euro 3 compliant. Coupled to a 5-speed gearbox, the engine produces 16.5 PS of power and 14.5 Nm of torque. The features list includes LED headlamp, hazard lights and all-digital instrumentation (from the R15 v3.0). Besides that, the bike also gets a slipper clutch. The 2019 V-Ixion tips the scales at 132 kg and has a ground clearance of 165 mm. Its fuel tank can store 12-litres of petrol.

The Yamaha V-Ixion R continues to use the 155 cc liquid-cooled, VVA powerplant. Coupled to a 6-speed gearbox, the engine churns out 19.3 PS of power and 14.7 Nm of torque. That’s the same engine which does duty in the Yamaha R15 v3.0 and continues to be fitted with a slipper clutch. The Yamaha V-Ixion R weighs 131 kg and has the identical ground clearance as the standard variant. However, the fuel tank is an 11-litre unit.

The 2019 Yamaha V-Ixion R also gets new decals, while its colour options include Matte Red and Matte Grey. The extra features of the V-Ixion R includes a shift timing light, aluminium swingarm and a wider 130-section rear wheel. In comparison, the standard V-Ixion gets only a 120-section rear tyre.

Besides that, Yamaha has confirmed that BS-VI compliant motorcycles in India will be launching November 2019 onwards and BS-VI compliant scooters launched January 2020 onwards.
