Italian motorcycle brand MV Agusta has entered into a long-term strategic partnership agreement China’s Loncin Motor to participate in 350-500 cc segment. The new products would target Asian markets. The lucrative displacement zone has already attracted the likes of BMW Motorrad, Triumph Motorcycles and Harley-Davidson, and MV Agusta does not plan to miss the opportunity in the space.

Under the partnership, MV Agusta will develop four bikes that will be manufactured by Loncin Motor in China. The details about the upcoming products are scarce. The new products could fall in the naked roadster, sports and touring categories. It will be interesting to see whether MV Agusta brings its existing models – Brutale (roadster), F-series (sport) and Turismo (Tourer) – in the lower displacement segment.
The details about the engine layout are unavailable now, but we expect to see single-cylinder, liquid-cooled, DOHC, 4-Valve, fuel-injected motor on the upcoming MV Agusta products. MV Agusta states that the new models will carry the unique MV Agusta DNA, sound and dynamics. The new, Made-in-China, Italian motorcycles will debut by the end of 2021.
The lower displacement products, like the higher displacement models, are likely to carry a premium over the existing bikes in the segment. Expect higher-spec hardware such as full LED lighting, digital instrument console (possibly with Bluetooth connectivity), inverted telescopic front forks, adjustable monoshock at the back, disc brakes on both the wheels and a dual-channel ABS.
Speaking about the new alliance, Timur Sardarov, CEO of MV Agusta Motor, said:
This strategic alliance is an important step to consolidate our vision for the future of MV Agusta. Our target is to reaffirm our leadership in the production of upper-premium motorcycles, while also enlarging our customer base by offering a broader range of products without compromising our distinctive design and performance. We are looking forward to grow with the right partners and the right products, making sure that our clients enjoy the larger choice of models, all of which share the same DNA and MV Agusta pedigree.
