Bajaj Auto has axed the V15 from its product portfolio due to its lacklustre sales performance, claims a new report from Bikewale.

The source report suggests that the Pune-based two-wheeler brand has stopped the production of the motorcycle. The report further adds that Bajaj Auto is likely to re-launch the lower displacement V series model, the V12. Do note that the V15 is still listed on the company’s website with an ex-showroom Delhi price tag of INR 66,739.
Bajaj Auto had launched the more powerful version of the V15, the V15 Power Up edition, in December last year. Compared to the standard model, the Power Up variant carried 1 PS extra output. The 149.53 cc, single-cylinder, air-cooled, 4-stroke, SOHC, 2-valve, DTS-i engine on the V15 Power Up edition delivered 13 PS of peak power at 8,000 rpm (vs. 12 PS at 7,500 rpm on the standard model) and 13 Nm of maximum torque at 6,000 rpm. The higher power output version also used a one-down/four-up gearshift pattern.
The braking department on the motorcycle never received the safety net of ABS - a feature that was mandatory for all two-wheelers above the 125 cc displacement from 1 April 2019. A 240 mm disc and a 130 mm drum at the front and back provided the stopping power.
While the V15 has been discontinued, the V12, as mentioned above, is likely to arrive in a new avatar. Unlike the old model, the new model will be equipped with CBS and it may use an updated motor that would comply with the new BS-VI emission norms. Bajaj Auto is working on a 125 cc variant of the Pulsar range and the new V12 may be powered by the same motor.

For reference, the BS-IV compliant V12 used a 124.5 cc single-cylinder, air-cooled, 4-stroke, SOHC, 2-valve, DTS-i engine that made 10.7 PS at 7,500 rpm and 10.9 Nm at 5,500. Like the old model, the new model would use 30 mm conventional front forks and Nitrox (Gas Filled) twin shocks at the back. The braking setup is also likely to be the same: 130 mm drum brakes on both wheels. As mention above, though, CBS will be included in the new model.
