Triumph Motorcycles India had launched the XR alongside the XRx and the XCx in March last year and then the range-topping XCa in March this year. The Tiger 800 XR, which was launched in India at INR 11.76* lakh over a year ago, now retails at INR 11.99 lakh*.
The XR variant shares its engine specifications with the rest of the 800 range, although it misses several features that are available on the XRx model. The 800 cc liquid-cooled, 12-valve, DOHC, in-line 3-cylinder engine with fuel injection system on the Triumph 800 range makes 95PS of peak power at 9,500 rpm and 79 Nm of max torque at 8,050 rpm. The engine is paired with a six-speed transmission.
Being an XR (road-biased) series model, the Tiger 800 XR rides on cast aluminium alloy wheels that are shod in tubeless tyres. The front features a 19-inch wheel (100/90-19 tyre) while the rear uses a 17-inch unit (150/70 R17 tyre). Anchoring department includes 305 mm, twin floating discs with Nissin 2piston sliding callipers at the front and a 255 mm single disc with Nissin single piston sliding calliper at the back.
Electronic suite on the Tiger 800 XR includes ride-by-wire throttle control, switchable ABS and traction control. The base variant misses features such as cruise control, heated grips, knuckle guards and radiator guards, among others. Check out the differences between the Tiger XR and the XRx in the table below:
