Honda claims that the new Activa 125 is developed with 26 new patent applications. The BS-VI compliant Activa 125 uses a 125 cc PGM-FI Honda Eco Technology (HET) engine that is boosted by Honda Enhanced Smart Power (eSP). Apart from the updated motor, the Activa 125 receives:
- New silent start system
- Semi-digital instrument console
- Idling Stop System
In terms of styling, the redesigned LED position lamp is aimed to enhance the premium look of the 125 cc scooter, while the new signature accents bring front chrome chest and embossed Activa 125 logo on the tail lamp. The 125 cc model will be available in six colour options:
- Rebel Red Metallic
- Black
- Heavy Gray Metallic
- Midnight Blue Metallic
- Pearl Precious White
- Majestic Brown Metallic
The new instrument console displays range, average fuel consumption and real-time economy of the scooter. Other information that is available on the digital screen includes odometer, ECO indicator, service due indicator, malfunction light and a clock. The speedometer on the Activa 125 BS-VI is an analogue unit.
The Idling Stop System, which makes a debut on the Honda scooters with the Activa 125 BS-VI, automatically turns OFF the engine at a stop light or at other brief halts to deliver better fuel economy. The motor comes turns back ON with the twist of the throttle. Honda Motorcycle and Scooter India’s former partner, Hero MotoCorp, already employs the feature (christened as the Idle Stop-Start System or i3S) on its scooters.
Honda has not revealed the performance numbers for the BS-VI compliant 125 cc scooter yet. However, the company has stated in its press announcement that the latest 125 cc motor has improved tumble flow, compact combustion chamber and friction reduction.
In terms of safety, the Activa 125 gets a side stand indicator with engine inhibitor. The system prevents the engine from starting when the side stand is engaged. The Combi-Brake System (CBS) comes as standard. The shock absorption department features telescopic front forks and three-step adjustable rear suspension.
Storage solutions include an 18-litre under seat space and a front glove box. The integrated dual function switch can be used to unlock the seat and to open the external fuel filler cap.
