BMW Motorrad has launched the 2019 BMW S1000RR in India at a starting price of INR 18.50 lakh*. The company's flagship motorcycle was unveiled in November 2018 at EICMA. In India, the bike is retailed in three variants, namely Standard (INR 18.50 lakh*), Pro (INR 20.95 lakh*) and Pro M Sport (INR 22.95 lakh*).
Ever since its debut in 2009, the BMW S1000RR has been topping the charts of litre-class superbikes world over. For MY2019, it gets a completely new engine, loses a lot of flab and dumps the signature asymmetrical headlamps. The all-new 998 cc inline, four-cylinder engine produces 207 HP and 113 Nm of torque. The power plant features a new ShiftCam valve train which debuted on the BMW R 1250 GS. It increases rideability along with an additional increase in power across the entire engine speed range. It even reduces emission and fuel consumption levels, optimised running smoothness and refinement.

BMW has also revised the geometry of the intake and exhaust ports for optimisation, and as a result, at least 100 Nm of torque is available between the engine speeds of 5,500 rpm and 14,500 rpm. The 2019 BMW S1000RR comes with Dynamic Traction control, ABS Pro (developed by BMW Motorrad Racing) and DTC Wheelie Function as standard. Adding to the hooliganism is the optional DDC (Dynamic Damping Control) which adjusts the electronic chassis optimally to the riding situation within milliseconds.
Like typical BMW Motorrad products, the 2019 BMW S1000RR offers four modes (Rain, Road, Dynamic and Race) as standard. Enthusiasts will also enjoy the Riding Modes Pro option which offers additional three riding modes (Race Pro 1-3) that are freely programmable. These race modes also come with a Launch Control.
The 2019 BMW S1000RR has a Flex Frame which is the optimum interplay between the frame design and the engine as a load-bearing element. The suspension system is brand-new and apart from improving the riding dynamics, it reduces the weight of the motorcycle.
The special M package in the 2019 BMW S1000RR takes performance to the next level. It includes carbon fibre wheels, lighter battery and a chassis kit to adjust the ride height.
