Yesterday, Aprilia expanded its product portfolio in India with the launch of the Storm 125, its most affordable scooter in the market. The Aprilia Storm 125 is priced at INR 65,000 (ex-showroom Pan India), making it about INR 8,000 less expensive than the SR 125. In this post, we list out the differences and the similarities between the two Aprilia scooters.

Design

Both, the Aprilia SR 125 and the Storm 125 are built around the same chassis, and they feature identical design. However, the Storm 125 comes with matte paint finish and bold graphics. The SR 125, on the other hand, features relatively subtle graphics and a gloss finish.

Another noticeable difference between the two models is the wheel size. While the SR 125 comes with 14-inch wheels on both ends, the Storm 125 features 12-inch units. Both products use Vee Rubber sourced tyres, although the units on the Storm 125 feature knobby style design that gives it a rugged, off-road-ready look. Check out the tyre profile for the two scooters below:

Front Tyre 120-70/14 Tubeless 120-80/12 Tubeless
Rear Tyre 120-70/14 Tubeless 130-80/12 Tubeless

All other details remain identical, and both vehicles use the same hardware specifications that include telescopic front forks, single-sided spring at the back, apron-mounted halogen headlight, handlebar-mounted front blinkers, analogue instrument console, single-piece grab-rail, 6.5-litre fuel tank and an under-seat fuel filler cap.

Engine

Apart from the underpinnings and the hardware, the SR 125 and the Storm 125 also share the same engine. Both scooters are powered by a 124.49 cc air-cooled engine that churns out 9.52 bhp at 7,250 rpm and 9.9 Nm of max torque at 6,250 rpm.

Braking Setup

However, the anchoring hardware is different on both the models. While the SR 125 comes with the option of a disc brake at the front, the Storm 125 uses drum units on both wheels as standard. The Storm 125 may get a disc brake option in the future. Do note that the scooter displayed at the 2018 Auto Expo was equipped with a front disc brake. The 125 cc duo from Aprilia features the safety net of CBS as standard.
