Yamaha has teased the MT-15 in India via its YouTube channel. The minute-long teaser video reveals various details such as the headlight, tail lamp, fuel tank, saddle, pillion grab rail, MRF Zapper tyres and conventional front forks among others. The launch is scheduled to take place on 15 March.

The Yamaha MT-15 has also started to reach the dealerships but it has not been put on display yet. Pre-bookings have begun for a token amount of INR 5,000.

The sighting of the motorcycle at the dealership and the teaser video confirms the hardware specifications of the Indian-spec Yamaha MT-15. The India bound naked roadster will have conventional telescopic forks instead of upside-down forks that are seen on the international spec model. Another change comes in the form of box-type swingarm with a linkage-type rear mono-shock that replaces the cast aluminium unit. The alloy wheels are also different, and they are shared with the Yamaha R15 V3.0.

All other styling cues and mechanical specifications have been retained. Thus, you would find a bug-eye shaped LED projector headlight, muscular fuel tank with radiator guards and an MT-09 inspired tail section. The upcoming MT-15, like the YZF-R15 V3.0, will be built around the famed Deltabox frame.

Mechanical specifications include a 155 cc, SOHC liquid-cooled, 4-valve, fuel-injected motor that features VVA (variable valve actuation). The engine delivers a healthy 19.1 bhp of maximum power and 14.7 Nm of peak torque and comes mated to an assist-slip clutch equipped six-speed gearbox. Stopping power comes from disc brakes on both ends while the safety net of dual-channel ABS, like in the YZF-R15 V3.0 ABS, will be standard.
