As per a report by Business Korea, the Hyundai QXi, which should launch in India in May this year, will be called the Hyundai Venue.
Reportedly, Hyundai Motor India Ltd (HMIL) will annually produce 70,000 units of the new model at its Sriperumbudur-based facility off Chennai. The Korea-spec model, which has been codenamed QX, will be built at the company's Ulsan plant. While the new model will be sold with a 1.0-litre turbo-petrol and a 1.6-litre turbo-diesel engine in South Korea, the India-spec model is said to be slated to go on sale with a 1.0-litre turbo-petrol, a 1.4-litre naturally aspirated petrol and a 1.4-litre turbo-diesel motor.
The Hyundai QXi is a sub-4-metre model that will be pitted against the likes of Maruti Vitara Brezza and Mahindra XUV300. Its front-end will have the latest iteration of the trademark cascading grille, which will be flanked by a two-tier lighting setup that the company calls 'Composite Light'. When seen in profile, the QXi will be highly reminiscent of the Creta, while the rear-end of the new model will feature wrap-around LED tail lights and will mimic the bold look of the front.
The interior of the Hyundai QXi is likely to offer class-leading features like first-in-segment ventilated front seats and an electric sunroof. The standard safety suite will comprise dual front airbags, ABS with EBD, front seatbelt reminder (SBR), reverse parking sensors, ISOFIX child seat mounts and high-speed warning buzzer. The top-of-the-line trim should even offer Vehicle Stability Control, Hill Start Assist, side airbags, and reverse parking camera with dynamic guidelines.

The Hyundai Venue will have its world premiere at the 2019 New York International Auto Show next month. In India, other than the Maruti Vitara Brezza, it will rival the Ford EcoSport, Mahindra XUV300 and Tata Nexon.
