The new-generation Yamaha MT-15 is likely to be launched in India on 15 March 2019, says a new report from Zigwheels.
The source-report further claims that the launch event will be held at the Buddh International Circuit (BIC), which will be followed by the media rides. The first test mule was spotted during local testing last month, and the launch was expected to be just around the corner.
On 29 January, IAB exclusively revealed the engine details and dimensions of the India-spec Yamaha MT-15. As compared to the global model, the Indian version is 55 mm longer (2020 mm) and 5 mm taller (1070 mm). Powering the MT-15 is a 155.1 cc liquid-cooled, SOHC, fuel injected, 4-valve motor that produces 19.04 bhp of power and 14.7 Nm of peak torque. The engine is mated to a first-in-segment slipper-clutch assisted six-speed transmission.
As far as changes are concerned, the Indian-spec MT-15 features telescopic forks in place of the USD units and a box-type swingarm instead of a cast aluminium unit. Other changes include YZF-R15 V3.0-sourced alloy wheels and tyres. Like the global version, it features a linkage-type rear mono-shock, which should offer superb handling.

The Yamaha R15 V3.0 based naked street-fighter will be underpinned by a Deltabox frame, which should offer phenomenal handling prowess. The 2019 Yamaha MT-15 features an MT-09 inspired design language with a new bug-eyed LED headlamp, sculpted fuel tank with extended tank scoops and a lowered tail section. The motorcycle is equipped with a fully digital instrument console.
