The Okinawa i-Praise electric scooter has been launched in India, priced at INR 1.15 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi).
The highlight of the Okinawa i-Praise electric scooter is that it features a detachable lithium-ion battery pack. Apart from being a removable battery pack, the lithium-ion unit is also lightweight as compared to the stock Okinawa Praise e-scooter, which comes equipped with a Lead-Acid battery.
The new Okinawa i-Praise e-scooter has a claimed range of 160-180 km on a single charge and a charging time of 2-3 hours. The lighter battery pack and the lower overall weight will make it a taut handler and increase the performance as well.
The i-Praise electric scooter comes equipped with features like Battery Health Tracker, Geo-fencing, GPS and vehicle status. Other features include Virtual Speed limit, SOS notifications, Curfew hours, Continuous monitoring, and Maintenance / Insurance Reminder.
Additionally, the Okinawa i-Praise features LED DRLs and a mobile charging port. A report dated 4 January reveals that Okinawa has received 450 bookings for the i-Praise electric scooter in India. Deliveries will commence shortly.
At INR 1.15 lakh, the Okinawa i-Praise will compete with the far superior Ather S340 (INR 1.10 lakh) and the Ather S450 (INR 1.25 lakh) electric scooters. While the Ather offerings are available only in Bangalore, the Okinawa i-Praise will benefit from its broader reach across India.
On a related note, Okinawa launched the Ridge+ electric scooter in October 2018 at INR 64,988 (ex-showroom Delhi). That said, in comparison to the i-Praise, the Okinawa Ridge+ has a range of 120 km on a single charge from its detachable lithium-ion battery pack. The Ridge+ has a claimed top speed of 55 km/h.
