The upcoming safety norms are barely two months away, and almost all manufacturers are ready to comply with the rules. However, a few OEMs are yet to introduce ABS variants of their products. Bajaj Auto has already launched the ABS variants of the Pulsar 220F, Pulsar 180 and Pulsar 150 Twin Disc motorcycles. However, the Pulsar 150 Classic and NS160 are yet to receive the safety update.

Similar to the rest of its portfolio, except the Dominar 400, the upcoming Pulsar 150 Classic and NS160 ABS would use the single-channel unit. The safety will be further enhanced with the installation of rear-wheel lift protection (RLP) sensor. Manufacturers are opting for single-channel ABS to keep the input cost low and limit the increase in the final prices.
With the installation of single-channel ABS, expect the ex-showroom prices to increase by INR 6,000-7,000. For reference, the outgoing versions retail for INR 85,690 (NS160 rear disc) and INR 76,800 (Pulsar 150 Classic).
Apart from the addition of ABS, the motorcycles would also receive updated graphics to give them a mid-life visual upgrade. The ABS-equipped Bajaj Pulsar 150 Classic and NS160 would continue to feature a BS-IV compliant motor. The Pulsar 150 Classic would use a 149cc, 4 Stroke, 2-valve, twin spark, air-cooled, DTS-i engine capable of churning out 14 PS of maximum power at 8,000 rpm and 13.4 Nm of peak torque at 6,000 rpm. The engine comes paired with a five-speed gearbox.
The NS160, on the other hand, would draw 15.5 PS of maximum power @ 8500 and 14.6 Nm of peak torque @ 6500 rpm from its 160.3 cc, 4 - stroke, SOHC 4-Valve, Oil Cooled, DTS-i engine. The motor sends power to the rear wheel via a 5-speed gearbox.
