The first set of images and details of the 2019 Volvo V60 Cross Country were officially released yesterday. As is the norm with the Cross Country, the newcomer gains its toughness from the body cladding and higher ride height.
That said, updates on the 2019 V60 Cross Country aren't merely cosmetical. Based on the Scalable Product Architecture, it features structural updates and a revised suspension that boosts the station wagon's off-road capability. It also benefits from 75 mm of additional ground clearance, all-wheel-drive, hill-descent control, and an off-road driving mode for the drivetrain.
Safety features on offer include City Safety automatic braking system, lane-keeping assist system, Pilot Assist system that assists with steering, accelerating, and braking at speeds up to 80 mph (129 kmph), and cross-traffic alert system, which alerts the driver of oncoming traffic and automatically stop the car if required.
Internationally, the 2019 Volvo V60 Cross Country will be available in two engine options - T5 petrol and D4 diesel. The gasoline motor on offer will be a 2.0-litre inline four-cylinder turbocharged engine that outputs a maximum power of 250 hp. The oil-burner will be a 2.0-litre turbocharged unit that outputs 187.5 hp. The manufacturer has stated that the new model will receive both mild and plug-in hybrid powertrains at a later stage. The latter is expected to be sourced from the 400 hp S60 T8 plug-in hybrid model.
