Maruti Suzuki India Ltd (MSIL) has finally introduced the CNG variant of the third-gen WagonR. The 2019 Maruti WagonR S-CNG (Smart-CNG) has been launched at a starting price of INR 4.84 lakh*.
The 2019 Maruti WagonR S-CNG is powered by the K10B 1.0-litre engine that offers a maximum power of 43.5 kW (59.14 PS) at 5500 rpm and a peak torque of 78 Nm at 3,500 rpm in CNG mode. In petrol mode, this three-cylinder mill delivers 50 kW (67.98 PS) at 5,500 rpm and 90 Nm of torque at 3,500 rpm. A 5-speed manual transmission is standard.
The 2019 Maruti WagonR S-CNG features a dual ECU and an 'intelligent-Gas Port Injection' technology that optimizes the fuel delivery to the engine, which, in turn, leads to higher fuel efficiency and better driveability. Furthermore, the clever packaging of the CNG cylinder ensures easy access to the spare tire, while the lower CNG tank position aids vehicle dynamics. The CNG variant has a best-in-class fuel economy rating of 33.54 km/kg.
The Maruti WagonR S-CNG is available in LXi and LXi (O) grades, with the latter costing INR 4.89 lakh*. Sales are limited to states with CNG infrastructure, including Delhi-NCR, Gujarat, Mumbai, Pune, parts of Andhra Pradesh, Uttar Pradesh and Madhya Pradesh.
