Maruti Suzuki has released the prices of the 2019 Eeco that comes with enhanced safety to meet the more stringent safety norms set to come into effect in a phased manner this year. The updated model’s prices start at INR 3.55 lakh* and go up to INR 6.54 lakh*.
From the beginning of this month, ABS has become mandatory, while driver airbag, reverse parking sensors, speed alert system and front seat belt reminders will become mandatory in July. Previously, none of these features were available in the Maruti Eeco. Now, they are a part of the standard equipment. The Tour V variant, however, is fitted with a speed limiter instead of a speed warning system.
To offer the driver airbag in the Eeco, Maruti Suzuki had to introduce a new steering wheel. The new piece is borrowed from the Alto. Other than that, there are no cosmetic changes in the updated model.
The specifications of the Maruti Eeco have remained unchanged. Under the hood, there’s the G12B 1.2-litre four-cylinder petrol engine that develops 54 kW (73.42 PS) at 6,000 rpm and 101 Nm of torque at 3,000 rpm. A CNG option is available. Running on CNG, this engine produces 46 kW (62.54 PS) at 6,000 rpm and 85 Nm of torque at 3,000 rpm. A 5-speed manual transmission sends drive to the wheels.
