The facelifted Maruti Baleno may feature LED projector headlamps instead of halogen projector headlamps in the Zeta and Alpha grades.

Launched in India the very next month after its world premiere at IAA 2015, the Baleno is over three years old and due for a mid-cycle update. Maruti Suzuki has prepared a minor cosmetic refresh for its flagship hatchback, and spy shots have already leaked the changes.

The facelifted Maruti Baleno features a new chrome upper grille accent, new front bumper with pronounced outer ends, new lower air intake and repositioned fog lamps. LED projector headlamps may have replaced halogen projector headlamps (in Zeta and Alpha grades).

On the sides, the new model could have new 16-inch machined alloy wheels. At the rear, one can expect tweaked tail lamps. Inside, like the old model, it should feature an all-black theme, but maybe with new highlights and trims.

In the old model, reverse parking sensors are not included in the base Sigma grade. The new model should include it as standard. Moreover, Maruti Suzuki will likely introduce front passenger SBR and speed alert system, both as standard fitments.

No mechanical changes are expected in the Maruti Baleno with the minor model change. The K12M 1.2-litre petrol engine and the D13A 1.3-litre diesel engine should continue. The naturally aspirated petrol engine produces 62 kW (84.30 PS) and 115 Nm of torque, while the turbocharged diesel engine’s maximum power and maximum torque ratings are 55.2 kW (75.05 PS) and 190 Nm respectively. The former channels power to the wheels via a 5-speed manual transmission or a CVT, while the latter is available with only a 5-speed manual transmission.

The Maruti Baleno's prices were hiked just last week. The range starts at INR 5,41,872* and goes up to INR 8,53,389* now.
