Mahindra has released a video showing the XUV300 undergoing wind tunnel testing at Pininfarina's facility in Turin, Italy. It will launch the new small SUV on 15 February 2019. Pre-orders for the new Maruti Vitara Brezza-rival are said to have commenced at several dealerships across the country.

The Mahindra XUV300 shares its X100 architecture and class-leading 2.6-metre wheelbase with the SsangYong Tivoli. That said, the manufacturer insists that its new model is entirely different from its Korean donor as it features a 'Cheetah-inspired' design and a different set of motors.

Engine specifications of the Mahindra XUV300 aren't out yet, but M&M has revealed that the set of petrol and diesel engines for the new model will offer the 'highest torque in its class.' Initially, both the engines will come with a six-speed manual transmission, but a close look at an image shared by the company in its product presentation reveals that an AMT could be in the pipeline.

Various reports suggest that the new model will be launched with 1.2-litre turbocharged petrol and 1.5-litre turbocharged diesel engines, with the latter coming from the Marazzo. The company will introduce a pure electric variant of its sub-4-metre segment in mid-2020. The emission-free vehicle will be sold with two powertrain options, with the costlier version expected to get its juice from a 380-volt system developed jointly by Ssangyong and Mahindra Electric Mobility Ltd.

The Mahindra XUV300 will offer a class-leading equipment list, with a handful of segment firsts including dual-zone automatic climate control, four disc brakes, and seven airbags. In fact, the company insists that comprehensive features list and the powerful engines ensure that the new SUV isn't merely a 'car to get one from point A to point B at a low per km cost.'
