Hyundai had started testing the Styx (Leonis) in South Korea before India. It will launch it in developed markets like the USA and possibly Australia too.

The Hyundai Styx is the brand’s entry-level SUV that will slot below the Hyundai Creta or Hyundai Kona depending on where it is marketed. It was previewed by the Hyundai HND-14, ‘Carlino’ concept at the Auto Expo 2016. The production model features a Cascade design grille, Composite Light - a design comprising slim DRLs positioned on top of the headlights, a Hyundai Creta-style greenhouse, two-tone alloy wheels and a shark fin antenna. The version spotted is a high-spec as it comes with rear disc brakes.

In India, the Styx will fill the void of a sub-4 metre SUV in Hyundai’s line-up featuring a 1.0-litre turbocharged three-cylinder petrol engine and a new 1.5-litre turbocharged four-cylinder diesel engine. The petrol engine, not available in any of the Hyundai models in India currently, will produce 118 hp and 171 Nm of torque. The diesel engine is expected to come in a tuning of 115 hp and 250 Nm. Word out there is that the company plans to offer a 1.2-litre naturally aspirated petrol engine as well, to keep the entry-price at bargain levels.
