Yesterday (15 November), at the launch of the Jawa Motorcycles, Classic Legends, which owns rights to market the Jawa & BSA brands in India, confirmed that Yezdi bikes are ‘coming soon’ to India.
When asked if there’s a possibility of the company introducing Yezdi Motorcycles, Mr Anupam Thareja, Founder - Classic Legends Pvt Ltd, said, “Yes, coming soon.”
Mr Boman Rustom Irani, Chairman & MD – Rustomjee Group, who is also a partner in Classic Legends Pvt Ltd, owns rights to the Yezdi brand. His father, Mr Farookh Irani, Founder – Ideal Jawa Ltd, introduced Jawa and Yezdi motorcycles in India.
Classic Legends is in talks with Boman Rustom Irani to bring the Yezdi brand under its roof. The company is known for having cult motorcycles like the Yezdi 250 Roadking, the Yezdi 250 Classic, 250 Monarch and the Yezdi 350 Twin among others.
While details are scarce at the moment, we can expect the upcoming Yezdi motorcycles to use the same chassis and engine platform as the Jawa bikes but expect it with signature traits like its exhaust note.
The upcoming Yezdi motorcycles are likely to use the Jawa-sourced 293 cc, single cylinder BS-VI compliant engine. The fuel injected motor pumps out 27 bhp of max power and 28 Nm of peak torque on the Jawa bikes. It is mated to a six-speed gearbox.
Yezdi could also use the bored-out 334 cc, single-cylinder engine from the Jawa Perak bobber, which churns out 30 bhp of max power along with 28 Nm of peak torque. It comes down to where Classic Legends wants to position Yezdi.

Coming to the Jawa Motorcycles, the ‘Jawa’ is a retro-classic, which pays homage to the first ever Jawa to be manufactured by the Czech bikemaker. The Jawa Forty-Two is a bold version of the Jawa while the Jawa Perak has the unmistakable bobber styling.
