The 2019 BMW 8 Series Coupe is on display at the ongoing 2018 Thai Motor Expo. The new model is seen as the spiritual successor to the BMW 6 Series Coupe. That said, it shares its underpinnings with the current 7 Series, while the 6 series was based on the last-gen 5 Series.
The 2019 BMW 8 Series is available in M850i xDrive Coupe M Performance and 840d xDrive Coupe variants. The former is powered by a 4.4-litre V8 petrol engine capable of producing 530 hp and 750 Nm. It can reach from 0-100 km/h in 3.7 seconds and attain a top speed of 250 km/h.
The 840d xDrive Coupe employs a 3.0-litre six-cylinder inline diesel unit developing 320 hp and 680 Nm of torque. BMW says it can hit from nought to 100 km/h in 4.9 seconds and achieve a top speed of 250 km/h. Both variants get an 8 speed Steptronic automatic transmission as standard.
Fitted with what BMW calls the "slimmest headlights of any BMW model to date", the 8 Series features LED headlights as standard and Adaptive LEDs or BMW Laserlight with selective beam and extended 600 m range as an option. Inside, it has a fully digital instrument cluster and 10.25-inch Control Display with BMW Operating System 7.0 and the BMW Head Up Display with a 16% larger projection surface. Active Cruise Control with Stop & Go function, Steering and lane control assistant, Lane Change Warning and Lane Departure Warning are some of the advanced driving aids available in the car.

Given that BMW India sold coupe and 'gran coupe' models like the 6 Series, in regular and M variants, it is reasonable to expect the 2019 BMW 8 Series in India at some point in the future.
