It seems that Bajaj Auto has discontinued or is soon likely to abandon the non-ABS variant of the Bajaj Dominar 400 in India. The company is yet to release a statement on this.

Bajaj Auto's official website lists the Dominar 400, but prices are only available for the ABS version. However, under the 'brakes & tyres' tab, the website mentions that the disc-brake only model is also available.

With the new safety guidelines set to come into effect from 1 April 2019, two-wheelers above 125cc will be mandated to come equipped with ABS as standard. It is just a matter of few months before Bajaj Auto is forced to discontinue the non-ABS model of the Bajaj Dominar 400.

The Bajaj Dominar 400 non-ABS variant was launched as an entry-level model to compete with the Royal Enfield Classic 350. With the new norms coming in, Bajaj Auto could introduce a single-channel ABS variant of the Dominar 400 to keep the prices accessible.

Bajaj Auto is currently working on the 2019 Dominar 400, which was recently spied testing on Indian roads for the first time. The new Bajaj Dominar 400 is expected to launch in India in early 2019 with upside-down forks and a redesigned front fender. Rumours are rife that the new Dominar will also feature an updated engine with a DOHC setup.

Powering the current Bajaj Dominar 400 is a 373.2cc, single-cylinder, SOHC, liquid-cooled, 4-valve engine that is mated to a 6-speed transmission. The fuel-injected motor is tuned to pump out a maximum power of 34.5 bhp at 8,000 rpm and 35 Nm of peak torque at 6,500 rpm. The Dominar 400 features 17-inch machined alloy wheels that are wrapped on 110-section front and 150-section MRF Revz radial tyres.

The ABS model retails at INR 163,075 (ex-showroom Delhi).
