The 2018 Maruti Ertiga is based on the Heartect platform, which is the same lightweight and robust architecture that underpins the Baleno, Swift, Dzire and Ignis. The petrol version of the new model will be sold with the new K15B 1.5-litre VVT petrol engine that made its local debut in the 2018 Maruti Ciaz (facelift). The new motor outputs a maximum power of 104.7 PS and a peak torque of 138 Nm. Transmission options available with the petrol engine will include a 5-speed manual and a 4-speed automatic.

The diesel variant of the 2018 Ertiga will be powered by the carried over D13A 1.3-litre DDIS200 turbo-diesel motor that comes mated to a five-speed manual transmission and outputs 90 PS and 200 Nm of torque. Both the powertrains feature the SHVS mild-hybrid system. At a later stage, Maruti Suzuki will replace the current oil-burner with the all-new E15A 1.5-litre diesel unit, which will send drive to the wheels via a six-speed manual transmission.
