The Yamaha YZF-R3 has received a marginal price hike of INR 1,000 in India. The motorcycle now retails at INR 3.49 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi). The BS-IV compliant motorcycle was launched in India for INR 3.48 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi) at Auto Expo 2018. For that money, buyers get the safety net of ABS as standard.

The Yamaha YZF-R3 is now INR 1,000 costlier in India. With the mandatory five year insurance, the on-road price, too, will be higher than before.

In addition to a BS-IV compliant motor and dual-channel ABS, the Yamaha YZF-R3 had received Metzeler SPORTEC M5 INTERACT tyres and new graphics for 2018.

The Yamaha YZF-R3 sports a 321 cc, twin cylinder, liquid cooled engine that produces 42 PS at 10,750 rpm and 29.6 Nm of torque at 9,000 rpm. This engine is paired with a 6-speed gearbox. A 298 mm hydraulic single disc at the front and a 220 mm hydraulic single disc at the rear provide the stopping power.

Yamaha is working on a new YZF-R3 that will come with a long list of upgrades, for MY2019. The new model will feature dual full-LED headlights with an air-intake in the centre and a more premium, upside-down telescopic suspension. It is to be noted that the Indian-spec 2018 YZF-R15 does not feature the USD setup even though the feature is available in the international markets. The same may happen with the YZF-R3 if Yamaha decides to reduce the cost for more competitive pricing.

The fairing will have an all-new design too, and so will the fuel tank that will come with relatively larger knee recesses. Everything following the fuel tank, however, won't differ much from the current YZF-R3. The engine should get upgraded to comply with the Euro V emission norms that are scheduled to come into effect in 2020.
