The Mahindra Marazzo was launched at Rs 9.99 lakh onward on 3 September. M&M is reportedly targetting a monthly sales of 4,000 units of its latest MPV.
Six months down the line, the carmaker could expend the production capacity to 7,000 units, depending on the demand for the new model. Dr Pawan Goenka, MD of M&M Automotive sector, had said the expectation of the Marazzo, S201 and the Rexton combined was about 8,500 monthly units.
The design of the Mahindra Marazzo is inspired by a shark. It is the first model to be jointly designed by renowned Italian design house Pininfarina and the company's Kandivali-based design centre in Mumbai. As per the manufacturer, the Marazzo is the first-ever passenger vehicle to have a transversely-mounted engine and front wheel drive layout with a ladder-frame construction.
Mahindra claims that the cabin of its MPV is spacious enough to accommodate eight 6-feet tall people comfortably. It may be noted here that the Marazzo is available in both 7- and 8-seat configurations. The middle row of the seats offers a fore-and-aft motion. The Marazzo becomes the first vehicle in its segment to come with an aircraft-inspired surround cooling system. The diffused and direct airflow provided by this system cools the entire cabin uniformly. With a claimed in-cabin sound level of 43 decibels at idle, the new model boasts the quietest cabin in its class.
Powering the Mahindra Marazzo is the new 1.5-litre turbocharged diesel engine produces a maximum power of 123 PS at 3,500 RPM and a peak torque of 302 Nm at 1,600 RPM. The engine comes mated to a six-speed manual transmission. The company has used crank-offset technology to cut down on the vibrations by 38%. Advanced dual mass flywheel technology has been used to reduce the engine rattle. The Marazzo is claimed to be the most refined offering in its segment. It has an ARAI-certified fuel efficiency of 17.6 kmpl.
