TVS is witnessing a continuous downfall in the sales of its flagship offering, the TVS Apache RR 310, as per a report from Moneycontrol. Data released by SIAM shows that the company dispatched only 351 units of the Apache RR 310 in July 2018.
The July sales are way off target and more than half of the highest ever sales of 983-units recorded in March 2018. At the launch, the company had targeted total sales of 10,000 units for the first year for the Apache RR 310. Moneycontrol reports that TVS has sold an average of 416 units of the Apache RR 310 since its launch, and it need to sale a minimum of 1,333 units per month for the next four months to meet the targets.
The TVS Apache RR 310 was launched for a price of INR 2.05 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi) but has seen a considerable price hike in the past eight months, and now retails at INR 2.23 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi). That's an increase of 9% within eight months of launch. The Apache RR 310 uses the mechanicals, chassis and the electricals from the BMW G 310 R, and is manufactured at the Hosur facility alongside the BMW G 310 twins.
Powering the TVS Apache RR 310 is a 312.2 cc single-cylinder liquid-cooled four-valve reverse-inclined engine. The fuel-injected mill produces 34 PS of maximum power at 9,700 rpm and 27.3 Nm of peak torque at 7,700 rpm. While the TVS Apache RR 310's version of this engine produces nearly identical power figures as that of the BMW's G 310 twins, its ECU is a custom one with a slightly higher compression ratio. The engine is paired with a 6-speed gearbox.
The TVS Apache RR 310 rivals the KTM RC 390, Kawasaki Ninja 300, Yamaha R3 and the Benelli 302R. The flagship TVS motorcycle features 41 mm USD front forks and a gas-assisted mono-shock at the rear. It is the first motorcycle in its class to feature Bi-LED projector headlamps. Braking power comes from a 300 mm front petal disc and a 240 mm rear petal disc with dual-channel ABS as standard.
The TVS Apache RR 310 runs on 17-inch 5-spoke alloy wheels that are shod with 110-section front and 150-section rear Michelin Pilot Street tyres. The motorcycle has a fuel tank capacity of 11 litres and tips the scales at 169.5 kg. The taller gearing and bigger rear sprocket result in a top speed of 160 km/h, while the 0-60 km/h sprint is done in 2.93 seconds.
