Speaking with Autocar India, Steve Zanlunghi, Head of Jeep (APAC region), said that the company plans on keeping the Jeep Compass "fresh and alive" in the market with the introduction of "different variants" which are expected within the next six months. "You will see a few other variants of the Compass that we've been working on for a while", Zanlunghi added.
The Jeep Compass, launched in India in July 2017, is the only real sales contributor for the Fiat Chrysler group in India. As of June this year, Jeep India announced that it had sold over 25,000 units of the SUV in the market, and to celebrate the first year anniversary, it launched the Compass Bedrock edition, priced at INR 17.53 lakhs, ex-Showroom.
The next variant line on the Jeep Compass in India is expected to be the off-road-focused Jeep Compass Trailhawk, which is reported to get the 2.0-liter MultiJet diesel engine with a 9-speed automatic transmission, and Jeep's Selec-Terrain traction control system with an additional Rock mode. It is expected towards the year-end or in early 2019.
Jeep India could also look at introducing the Compass Night Eagle edition which was launched in the Brazilian market in October last year with cosmetic revisions. These include glossy black finish for the grille, 18-inch alloy wheels, foglight bezels, centre console and AC vents.
